Wood Finishes

Wood finishes are painted wood grain finishes applied over a surface previously painted with an opaque paint, over an existing wood finish to visually lighten or change the wood type, on drywall and on decorative items. Wood graining has been used for centuries to emulate fine wood that was not readily available or affordable and can be applied to virtually any painted surface. Woodgrained drywall with applied wood trim adornment has the visual richness and depth of a fine wood paneled room, at significantly less expense. Inexpensive painted cabinets, walls, doors and furniture, when properly wood grained, take on a rich wood look at a fraction of the cost of authentic finely finished wood. Many of the rich wood finishes in Mt. Vernon are simple, local woods that were wood grained in exotic wood finishes by skilled craftsmen employed by George Washington. Wood grained finishes are suitable for decorative accessories and small pieces of furniture decorated in the studio and shipped to the owner upon completion. Progress photos of work produced in the studio are routinely e-mailed to the client for approval and input.
